On a (mostly) sunny Wednesday, May 21st, the Lynn Museum & Historical Society presented eight Revitalization Awards to a diverse group of developers, home owners, and civic leaders. In several different categories--from residential restoration to mixed use revitalization—the award winners were acknowledged for their thoughtful contributions to Lynn’s architectural landscape.
“Just in time for National Preservation Month,” remarked Museum President, Steve Babbitt, “these awards recognize those people and properties that help keep the city’s history alive.”
Following a courtyard reception, the following were presented with award plaques in the Museum’s function room:
- 17 Wave Street Carl Paleologos and Robert Turnbull
- Ladder Three Lofts Condominium Alex Steinberg, RCG-LLC Real Estate
- The Normandy Mark Dejoie and Peter Abruzzese
- The Caledonian David Gass, Executive Director, LINC
- Veteran’s Memorial Auditorium Mayor Edward Clancy
- St. Theresa House Edward Calnan, Chairman, Board of Directors
- Edison Building John Gilberg
- Verizon Building Stanley Usovicz
Concurrent with the event, the Museum presented a new exhibition, “The Preservation Movement Then and Now,” co-sponsored with Historic New England. The exhibit runs through August 30, 2008. Please visit www.lynnmuseum.org for hours and more information.
