State Bath House

When you mention the State Bath House that was once on Lynn Beach, most people get confused. Show them this post card and they become bewildered. Lynn had a fabulous, late Victorian era bath house across from what is today the Nahant Rotary. Washington street extended to the ocean as the rotary and the Lynnway would not be built until the fifties.

On a warm Sunday afternoon after church and lunch families would listen to music at the band stand located next to the bath house.

This linen post card is a fine image of the State Bath House from around 1930. It looks similar to bath houses still standing in other cities like Revere and Salisbury.

One of the last views of the bath house is this 1950's post card. The building will be torn down and replaced by a "modern" bath house.
