English High School has occupied several buildings and locations in the city of Lynn. The first location above (at the site of Cobbet today) opened as Lynn High in 1849 and renamed L.E.H.S. in 1887. For a short time English High moved into the Lynn Industrial Shoe School on High Street, currently Girl's Inc.

A new building was constructed at the corner of Essex and Liberty Streets in 1892 in the style of Tudor Revival. The first class of 77 students graduated in June of 1893. A fire would destroy the roof and towers. Below is L.E.H.S. in 1918.  From 1932 to 1982 this would become the Cobbet Junior High School, closing to become what it is today, Cobbet Hill Apartments.

Lynn English moved to its current location at 50 Goodridge Street on former marshlands (in what is now Keaney Park) in 1931. The new building features large stately columns, white brick, and a large classical auditorium. Local legend states the foundation of the school was poured on remnants of glass tonic bottles produced by local manufacturer Lydia Pinkham.  (From Wikipedia)
