Gannon Golf Course

Gannon Golf Course

Gannon Golf Course was built in 1929 during the WPA (Works Progress Administration) and was designed by Wayne Stiles. The first nine holes were well received as an outstanding project when it opened in 1931. Soon afterwards the construction of another nine holes were completed.

The City of Lynn’s Department of Public Works, Park Commission, and Lynn Water and Sewer Commission share jurisdiction and management of the Reservation. The Park encompasses nearly one-fifth of the entire land area of the City and represents a significant natural, watershed, and public recreational resource in eastern Massachusetts. Birch Pond

One of the ponds that the golf course boarders is Birch Pond. This path is from the Western Entrance (Pennybrook Road) and leads you to Dungeon Rock. The golf course is across the pond, another example of nature and recreation co-habiting the same ecosystem.
