The Breakers Hotel: What a fabulous vacation "get away" in 1910!
The new "Boulevard" was completed; the beaches were beautiful and open to the public. Prior to the eminent domain acquisition of the beach front property along Lynn Shore Drive, the ocean front land was privately owned. Look at a pre-1900 map of Lynn and the private estates went down to the water line. Too bad that scenario didn't happen in Swampscott and Marblehead (Editorial comment).

I just happened to have a map of Lynn's coast around 1852 if that helps you get the "picture!"

From top to botton: The Breakers Hotel in the 20's, 30's and 40's. Check out the awnings, a Victorian luxury not often seen today.

Hotel Seymour

The Hotel Seymour?
Please save me the time of researching this in the Museum's Library and email me with what you folks know about this hotel.

 Lynn Hotel

Although not a post card, above is the Lynn Hotel. To the left is Western Ave. and the right leads you to the Common. General Lafayette spoke here and the Lynn Museum has the orb that hung over the entrance. Today it's a bank in Market Square.

Congratulations!
This is Tim's 50th Post Card page!
Let's "double" Tim's salary!
What's 2 times zero?

Edison 1943

The Hotel Edison in the 1940's is pictured above. Does everyone remember the functions, i.e. Christmas Parties, Weddings,  etc. held in this fantastic Lynn location? Below is the "Baroque Room" used for dinner meetings and below that, the Edison's Men's Grill. Today the Edison is serves up advice and knowledge, no food.
